Nylon Membrane
Nylon filters are very stable; they are compatible with a variety of esters, alcohols and bases. Nylon syringe filters are hydrophilic; this makes them ideal for dissolution sample analysis. Nylon's excellent flow characteristics and mechanical stability allow these filters to meet the most stringent analytical needs.

PTFE (Poly tetra fluoro ethlene) Membrane
If filtering acids, bases and strong chemicals, you need to use PTFE filters; they are also used for filtering gases and air. PTFE filters have a broad chemical and thermal compatibility; you can use them with many different substances.

PVDF (Polyviny lidene fluoride) Membrane
PVDF syringes are designed for sample prep and cleanup; they are typically used with protein-based samples that have a high non-specific bonding rate. This hydrophobic membrane can be used in many different applications.

CA (Cellulose acetate)Membrane
Cellulose filters are ideal for biological samples. Cellulose is hydrophilic; this makes for an excellent cutoff effect. It offers low protein binding coefficients and excellent flow rates for biological samples.
If working with microbiological or medicinal samples, syringe filters need to be sterilized. If using them for other purposes, they do not need to be as clean. Syringe filters allow people to filter low volumes of liquids and other substances without spending a ton of money on filtration devices.
