A typical solid phase extraction involves five basic steps. First, the cartridge is equilibrated with a non-polar or slightly polar solvent, which wets the surface and penetrates the bonded phase. Then water, or buffer of the same composition as the sample, is typically washed through the column to wet the silica surface. The sample is then added to the cartridge. As the sample passes through the stationary phase, the polar analyze in the sample will interact and retain on the polar sorbent while the solvent, and other non-polar impurities pass through the cartridge. After the sample is loaded, the cartridge is washed with a non-polar solvent to remove further impurities. Then, the analyze is elated with a polar solvent or a buffer of the appropriate pH.
A stationary phase of polar functionally bonded silica with short carbons chains frequently makes up the solid phase. This stationary phase will adsorb polar molecules which can be collected with a more polar solvent.

Pipette is common used lab consumables in every laboratory,the right using method will influence the correctness of samples volume of pipette,then show effect on the experiment result.So here are some tips for using the pipettes:
1. Adjustment Pipette range
In the regulation range, if you want to transfer from a large volume of small volume, according to the regulation method of normal, counterclockwise rotation knob; but if small volume adjustment is the large volume, may be the first clockwise rotation of the scale knob to scale beyond range, and then back to set the volume, so as to ensure the highest accuracy take the amount. In the process, do not turn the Pipette button out of the range, otherwise it will be stuck inside the mechanical device and damaged the Pipette.
2. Assembly of the Pipette head (nozzle)
In the gun head up the Pipette, the correct method is to move the gun into the gun head, a little bit of force around the rotation can make it close. If the utility model is a multi-channel (such as a 8 or 12) Pipette, the first gun of the Pipette can be aligned with the first gun head, and then is inserted obliquely. The gun head is tightly marked with a slightly more than O type ring, and can be seen in the connecting part to form a clear sealing ring. Three
